word // #hopewriterlife
day 1 // word ✨
This year I’m living in wonder & letting it guide my writing.
I actually settled on wonder as my word of the year this year because I want to live with more awareness of the surprising beauty around me.
I want to be surprised with the unexpected, unfamiliar, & inexplicable.
I want to wonder...
when I get lost in stories I’m reading
when I get lost in stories I’m writing
I want to wonder about magical lands & time traveling characters.
I want to wonder about characters who are different than me.
I want to wonder what it’s like to solve a mystery or commit a heist (not in real life of course!)
I want to wonder what it’s like to wield magic & step through portals.
I want to wonder what it’s like to head up a team & save the world.
I want to wonder what writing short snippets of stories everyday will do to my soul.
I want to wonder in different places, & through retreats & with writing partners.
My mostly... I want to wonder what it will be like when a small reader turns the pages of my stories, connecting to my characters, imagining themselves in my worlds, & smiling because it was exactly the story they needed.
