The Power of Story Manifesto: Teaser Trailer

Last year, I had what seemed like a genius idea of starting a podcast about books. It all stemmed from the fact that I was teaching a Journalism elective and had NO IDEA what to teach about. In the last year, I've bene really drawn to podcasts, and thought it would be super fun to have my students develop, produce, and record their own podcasts for the semester they were in Journalism.

It was great idea in theory, really. But, practically, it was a nightmare.

I had never so much as recorded anything myself before, nor used any sort of audio software, nor did I really have any equipment. But, armed with a few ipads and passion for the project, we jumped in.

My students came up with brilliant ideas and produced some great shows that we shared via our internal google site. I, on the other hand, recorded one terrible show the entire year.

But this year, I'm back. We're consolidating our shows into one teacher hosted, student inspired show. I've got a better microphone, students ready to chat about books, and a whole season's lineup of  planned.

Today, I'm sharing a teaser of what's to come.

I believe in the power of story.

Stories have the power to heal. Stories have the power to change us.
Stories make us laugh, cry, yearn, and offer us escape.
Stories find us when we need them the most.

We all have stories in and around us. It’s just up to us to live them.
