The Explorers: The Door in the Alley by Adrienne Kress is a middle grade tale of two unlikely friends, a mysterious secret society, a secret past, & a tiny pig in a hat. The story starts when inquisitive Sebastian stumbles upon a strange door. What lies on the other side is full of danger, thugs, missing persons, famous explorers, a lost map, his new friend Evie, and a quest to save family.

What I loved most about this story is that it is quite action packed! It’s a story full of mystery and twists and turns, but every chapter moves the action along nicely and kept me pulled into the story. When I got near the end and realized there would be no full resolution, I knew it would be hard to wait for the sequel!

I highly recommend this book for anyone who loves adventure, humor, or Indiana Jones-esq tales! But fair warning--if you pick it up, you'll be yearning for the rest of the series early on in the story!
